Weekly Report: April 14th - April 20th 2024
The Week in Summary:
- As far as novelty during the work week, dozens of my colleagues and I went to visit Inglewood Bird Sanctuary for a brief tour of the site. It was really interesting to have folks introduce the park from a new perspective - even learned about a new tree species: water birch.
- Thank goodness that the Calgary Catholic School District has their own spring break, because now I have two! The first few days of the spring break, I went to my usual selection of cafes/teahouses, went on afternoon bike rides along the Bow Pathway, read Ferris Jabr's Becoming Earth: How Our Planet Came to Life Ferris Jabr), and went birdwatching at Carburn Park with Taylor.
- Additionally, we had lunch with Alexis at Blowers and Grafton, as well as dinner with Rand at Milpa (a Mexican small plates and cocktail bar Milpa off 17th Ave). On Easter Sunday, Taylor and I also went over to Jan and James' place for a wonderful dinner!
- Okay, this is my obligatory political comment: I watched the English-language federal leaders' debate. Compared to other federal or provincial debates, this was fairly uneventful and I don't imagine many folks will be moved by any of the candidate's pitches. Election Day is April 28th!
- Black Country, New Road's Forever Long is incredible. Seriously, give it a listen!
