Weekly Report: April 7th - April 13th 2025
The Week in Summary:
- I started bike commuting to work this week. I have a single-speed bicycle, which can be tough on hills (as limited as they are along my route), but it has been reliable. The main benefit is that bike commuting gives me an opportunity to fit exercise into my daily routine better. The added benefit is that once I get out on the pathway along the Bow, I am having myself a fantastic time pedaling along. I can listen to the birds, watch the river, and feel the wind. I also get more flexibility with my everyday life, like biking out to Inglewood to meet up with Katelyn for dinner or pivoting my after work route to Oolong Teahouse to read.
- As an additional note, since I have enjoyed bullet journaling so much, I decided to start a personal journal as well. It has been a little awkward starting out, as I often do not give my chattering thoughts the audacity of entering into written form, but I am noticing that there is a meditative element to the practice that I am likely going to feel more comfortable with over time.
- On Tuesday, I went in for allergy testing to confirm a penicillin allergy. The test results were negative (yayyy!), but to be sure, they want to do an oral challenge (odd phrase, but okay). Though, as I have long suspected, I do apparently have a bunch of seasonal allergies to trees and weeds.
- As for most of the week, I read David Brook's How To Know A Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen, made Brazilian fish stew (or moqueca) with Taylor, read at many cafes/teahouses, picked up Pharoah Saunders' Karma on vinyl, and played the new Age of Empires IV expansion Knights of Cross and Rose with James and Taylor.
- China and the United States are going nuts with tariffs eh? Hopefully they can keep each other busy.
