Weekly Report: August 5th - August 11th 2024
The Week in Summary:
- On Heritage Day, Taylor, Alexis, and I went to Drumheller to check out the hoodoos and Horseshoe Canyon. For more details, refer to my second nature journal entry! As we were coming back into the city, we received emergency alerts regarding an upcoming hailstorm. We got back in time and did not really get hit by the storm in the Beltline, but Northeastern Calgary got nailed (again).
- Since Biden announced he would not be seeking the presidency for the 2024 election, it has been astonishing how Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have managed to change the narrative. At one time last month, it seemed that Trump's second term was inevitable, but thankfully a spirit of optimism is energizing the Democrats as the campaign heats up. Wishing Harris and Walz all the best over the next few months!
- After work on Friday, Alexis, Krystal, Taylor and I went to Sushi Ginza for Taylor's birthday. Once we got back to our place we has some wine (and gin) and watched The Ultimatum: Queer Love (because trashy reality TV has its moments).
- For Saturday, we celebrated Taylor's birthday at their parent's house. For most of that day, they played Pathfinder and I hung out reading and exploring. Despite our plans for Sunday, I came down with a cold and I spent most of Sunday with a stuffy nose and sore throat. I played a lot of Victoria 3, read about post-Independence India, and had Tibet Kitchen for dinner.
