Weekly Report: September 2nd - September 8th 2024
The Week in Summary:
- With Taylor's work with Calgary Pride slowing down, we got to spend a lot more time with each other this week than we have been getting to these past few months. I've been really grateful to have more quality time with my love. <3
- This was the last week of summer educational development before school programs begin in late September. Until then, there are going to be a few weeks of training and some assistance provided to Beakerhead. It'll be nice to get back into a consistent work routine and have more folks in the office.
- Given recent amendments to the Green Line LRT plan, the provincial government has decided to unilaterally pull 100% of their funding for the project. And now the city government has to cancel the Green Line LRT project, unless there is some last minute miracle with our government getting its shit together. The seething anger I have at the UCP is unquestionable. They are hellbent on destroying every opportunity this province has to make any progress towards improving our livelihoods. This isn't even mentioning their opt-in sex education policy or their consideration of privatizing hospitals.
- Over the weekend, Taylor and I mostly took it easy at home. We played a bunch of Age of Empires 4. Whilst Taylor did some needle-punching in the other room, I played some Victoria 3 (and failed). We got some Rio Pizza on Saturday night. On Sunday morning we went to Confederation Park for a few hours to do some birdwatching and get some relaxation in.
- This is the week I discovered the espresso tonic. As a kid, I found tonic water to be repulsive. That being said, I am really digging a double-espresso shot over iced tonic water with a slice of valencia orange and some orange bitter. I tried a matcha tonic and it did not work in my opinion.
