Weekly Report: September 8th - September 14th 2025
The Week in Summary:
- As far as work is concerned, the first couple days of the week was dedicated to getting our classrooms into better working order as we transition from the summer to the academic school year. Then, starting Wednesday, we began our annual training with returning and new education staff. Similar to administrative work, the sedentary nature of training is always challenging to me. That being said, it is always enjoyable to share team lunches!
- As for the weekday evenings. I have been trying to keep myself busy. On Tuesday, I wrote and finished my Plateau Mountain Ecological Reserve blog post after weeks of procrastinating. For Wednesday, I had my first session with a new therapist (then came home to doomscroll after finding out about the assassination of Charlie Kirk). Taylor and I went to Fat Kee Noodle House on Thursday (very out of the way for us, but great nonetheless) and had Village Ice Cream afterwards.
- On Friday evening, though it was initially fairly mundane, sprung to excitement with my sister and her partner randomly showing up at my door (along with our only floor neighbours). It is a convoluted story, but effectively, they all knew each other, but my sister had no clue where I lived in the city, so when Taylor and I were brought up in conversation, there was a "woah" moment when everyone recognized the serendipity of the connection. In any case, we all hung out for the evening, plus we got to know our wonderful neighbours much more!
- For Saturday and Sunday, I managed to go for a couple bike rides and had lunch at the Coup, but overall, I stayed at home reading, getting some tasks done around the house (reorganizing the tea cupboard), and played Chess with Taylor. I had other plans for Saturday morning, but they fell through. C'est la vie!
- As for reading, I have been working on Sam Bloch's Shade: The Promise of a Forgotten Natural Resource and Greg Grandin's America, América: A New History of the New World.
