Weeknotes: December 29th 2025 - January 4th 2026
Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.
✨ Happenings
- As a note: The weeknotes is going through reorganization with a monthly recap being introduced by the end of January.
- On Monday, after days of hearing dehumidifiers and industrial fans in our condo, the restoration team picked up the equipment and left us with a substantially quieter home. Time will tell what the long-term damage of last week's water leak will be, but we are hoping for the best.
- On Tuesday evening, Alexis and I went to Sought X Found for coffee and I got a coffee flight (which I very much liked). Afterwards, we went for ice cream at Milk on Centre Street. On another note, their coffee beans are incredible and I am going to have to get more for my espresso machine.
- For New Years Eve, Taylor and I stayed home for the evening. We are famously not often up past 10pm these days, but made the effort to ring in the New Year. We watched Friendship, ordered from Happy Veggie House, and spontaneously decided to reorganize our den (cren, aka. craft room/den) at 1:00am to make the computer have less presence in the room. With Taylor's reorganizing of the craft closet and the gifted sewing machine from Christmas, our cren's potential has now truly been unlocked!
- On the evening of New Years Day (which was a very foggy day), Taylor and I joined Alida and Mark over at Katelyn and Ang's place for dinner and board games (we played 5-Minute Dungeon and The Resistance).
- On Saturday, Nyx and I went to Weaselhead Flats to appreciate the winter wonderland with a long refreshing walk. Honestly, it was such a beautiful way to start the year off in nature and a great reminder that one can find so much joy moving through snowy woodlands. After scoping out Marda Loop for awhile (wow, that neighbourhood is not doing well - many closing businesses and streets absent of foot traffic), we went to the Coup for some lunch, then stopped at Reid's Stationary.
- In the last day of the winter break, I did some chores around the condo, went out for Dan Dan Noodles for lunch, and read a bunch (stayed home as my knee was sore).
- This week, Taylor and I defeated the legendary Ball X Pit. On my own, I mostly played Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, but I did try out an old favourite: Civilization V. As far as reading is going, I have several books on the run on a variety of topics: Weimar Germany, Shamanism, and the rise of consumer preference (all different books).
