Weeknotes: February 2nd - February 8th 2026

Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.

✨ Happenings

  • In keeping up with the hot chocolate madness after the weekend, I went to a couple Inglewood cafes with Erin and Nyx on Tuesday and to a Kensington cafe with Alexis on Wednesday. At this point, the hot chocolates began to all flow together and I needed to withdraw myself from the festival's allure, but alas, it was too late. I would be riddled with sweetness and a small degree of regret for the rest of the week. When you stare at the hot chocolate long enough, the hot chocolate stares back.
  • On Thursday, after Alexis and I went to Kensington Pub for dinner, we joined Katelyn to play badminton at Sunridge Badminton Centre for a couple hours. Don't fall for this badminton hustler! Alexis kicked ass and I was sore for a couple days afterwards.
  • After work on Friday, Taylor and I joined my coworkers at Paper Lantern for drinks and a light dinner. We enjoyed a nice nighttime bike ride back home along the Bow Pathway.
  • For Saturday, Taylor and I joined Amy, Macs, Katelyn, and Ang (as Dungeon Master) for a one-shot D&D campaign. It was a lovely opportunity to try hot chocolates and participate in a fantasy cooking show (our team won) with friends! Taylor played a Paladin of the Carnivore Diet and I played a hipster Orc Bard with a love of pretentious non-alcoholic drinks.
  • On Sunday, I started the morning with a 15km bike ride with Alida to Marda Loop and along the Elbow River Pathway. We stopped along the way to enjoy spicy hot chocolate at Aroma Café Bar in Marda Loop. Later in the morning and into the early afternoon, Nyx and I went to Beaver Dam Flats to enjoy a walk in the park and went to Padmandi Vegan Eatery for lunch.
  • I bounced from book to book a lot this week, but never turned the last page on anything (something about this could be interpreted as an allegory for my life). I did, however, finish playing the main campaign of 11 Bit Studio's Frostpunk on PlayStation with a whopping eight survivors. Thank god for the Faith Keepers!
