Weeknotes: February 9th - February 15th 2026

Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.

✨ Happenings

  • Given the teachers' convention on Thursday and Friday, my work week was very brief. It was uneventful, but we did go for a staff lunch on Wednesday at Mumbai bites. I had a Afghani egg curry and Manchow soup, both of which reminded me how much I adore the restaurant whenever I get to enjoy their food.
  • With time off work on Thursday and Friday, I filled both days with plenty of reading, bike rides, and video games. For Thursday, I had a morning coffee with Rand, with an evening dinner with Katelyn and Ang. On Friday, Taylor and I went to the Phil & Sebastian cafe in Bridgeland, then went to Bike & Brew, and ended up purchasing Taylor a new bike! They have been rocking a blue mountain bike from the 90s for the past several months and we upgraded them to a Marin Kentfield 2 to make bike commuting easier.
    • Taylor's Addendum: The new bike makes it possible for me to keep up with Chance! I have been struggling to attain his pace for a long while, but this new ride is so, so much smoother and zippy to boot. Because it's a mid-length step through, I can now dismount my bike without round housing our groceries as well (if you know, ya know). I am stoked and can't wait for true spring and summer time riding conditions - though when has that ever stopped us?!
  • For Valentine's Day, Taylor and I spent much of the day on our bicycles enjoying Winter Cycling Day's. We went to Eight Ounces in Manchester Industrial Park (Taylor bought me a manual grinder for my coffee), stopped at Calgary Climate Hub's Bikes and Hearts event (very briefly) as a pit stop, went for lunch to Ramen Arashi, and spent the rest of the day at home enjoying games together. For Sunday, after a morning bike ride, we stayed home for the rest of the day and puttered around the condo.
  • For books, I finished reading Harry Shukman's Year of the Rat: Undercover in the British Far Right and started reading Eleanor Janega's The Once and Future Sex: Going Medieval on Women's Roles in Society. I also continued to play Arc Raiders, as well as started playing DOOM: The Dark Ages and Tekken 8 with Taylor.
