Weeknotes: January 12th 2026 - January 18th 2026

Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.

✨ Happenings

  • With the recent chinook bringing warm winds down into the city, we received the boon of splendid bike commuting conditions at the cost of intense migraines and climate anxiety. Beyond that, the work week was slow and the evenings were largely spent at home.
  • On Friday evening, Taylor and I went over the Katelyn and Angs' place for dinner and to play more Root. Despite our attempts to turn the tide of the game against this mob of rats (along with how tight it was towards the end), Ang won!
  • For the weekend, Taylor and I spent both days sharing quality time together. We went for a solid morning bike ride, had a lunch date in Kensington at Ramen Arashi, read at And Some Flower Café, and played hours of Blue Prince. For myself, I managed to pick up a bunch of library books at Memorial Park Library.
  • As for my reading, I started and have nearly finished Elizabeth Dias and Lisa Lerer's The Fall of Roe: The Rise of a New America. As for video games, Taylor and I have been obsessed with Blue Prince. At its core, it is a puzzle-roguelike adventure revolving around a young boy, his quest for his inheritance, and an odd ever-shifting manor. We have likely been putting in a couple hours into it per day. It's that good!
  • Taylor's Note: "I managed to finish making a bag made out of ties that I first started working on in junior high at school. Both grandpas and my dad contributed ties to the bag, so to me, it feels like an heirloom piece. This was the first big project I really wanted to tackle, after getting my sea legs creating a few simple items. I am very happy with how it turned out!"
