Weeknotes: January 19th 2026 - January 25th 2026

Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.

✨ Happenings

  • Another work week has passed and it was fairly typical. For the weekday evenings, I got to spend time with dear friends at cafes and play Blue Prince with my love. Beyond that, we also hosted a bunch of folks over for a night of charcuterie with arts and crafts to create together.
  • With snowfall and a cold snap, Taylor and I stayed home all day on Saturday to enjoy the great cozy indoors. In the morning, I read the last few chapters of Sid Meier's Memoir!: A Life in Computer Games (by the man himself). In the afternoon, we finished the last of Blue Prince and rolled credits (though the manor has many secrets to explore yet). Such a fucking incredible game!
  • On Sunday, Taylor and I joined Nyx at Carburn Park for a walk along the Bow River to enjoy the fresh snowfall with plenty of waterfowl and chickadees to hear and see. Afterwards, we visited the farmers' market for lunch (I tried these galettes with Turkish sausage, mushrooms, and potatoes) and pick up seitan for home cooking. Once home, I spent the afternoon playing and "beating" the odd and brief philosophical/comedic adventure game: Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe. In the evening, we played a bit of Age of Empires IV with James (but the AI was dumb as fuck).
  • Given the New Democratic Party's leadership contest, I renewed my annual membership with the party in anticipation for the leadership vote in March. As an avid and unapologetic leftist, I will be supporting Avi Lewis for NDP leadership! Long live the workers!
