Weeknotes: January 5th 2026 - January 11th 2026
Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.
✨ Happenings
- Back from winter break, the work week felt fairly long and exhausting (the recent news from the United States doesn't help). For much of the weekday's evenings, I stayed at home to read or play games. Outside of that, I went to Sought X Found with Alexis on Tuesday and went to Kawa Espresso Bar with Nyx on Thursday. Additionally, after getting my last haircut nearly eight months ago, I went to Social Cut & Shave on 17th Ave for a fresh haircut on Monday after work.
- For Friday evening, Katelyn and Ang came over to visit and enjoy charcuterie. After an extended absence from playing Root, we returned to it and it was just as fun as I remember it being!
- On Saturday morning, Taylor and I joined Alida and her friend for ice skating at Bowness Park. Though the ice conditions were deemed "rough", the recent chinook brought beautiful mild temperatures that enlivened the park with lots of neighbours. After I was heavily assisted with properly fitting and tying my ice skates, I was very proud of how quickly I managed to pick up skating (I have only tried it twice since childhood). Taylor rented an ice bike and that was a blast as well! Afterwards, we went for Vietnamese down in Bowness, then did our own things for the rest of the day.
- For much of Sunday, Taylor and I stayed at home and hung out. I did a couple hours of pastel painting in the morning with my new Sennelier set, got reading done, and listened to music. In the mid-afternoon, Jan and James came over to chat, enjoy charcuterie, and try out the game Next Station: London.
- Whilst I continued to read about Weimar Germany, I did finish reading Manvir Singh's debut anthropology book Shamanism: The Timeless Religion. More on that book at the end of the month!
