Weeknotes: May 4th - May 10th 2026
Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.
✨ Happenings
- For much of the work week, life was fairly routine. I read a couple books, played Marathon, and went for bike rides (including going to the annual Bike to Work Day breakfast near the Peace Bridge). I also, for the first time since starting my ADHD medication, forgot to take it in the morning. It was an exhausting and mentally restless day, but it was better than I thought it would be (which is a good reminder).
- On Friday, after a bit of a challenging day, Taylor and I joined Katelyn, Ang, Alexis, and Krystal to celebrate Krystal's birthday at Paper Lantern in Chinatown. For dessert, we went to Mama Dessert as we often do while in the neighbourhood.
- On Saturday morning, I went to my first physio appointment for my right hand (which was broken over a decade ago) and was given some at-home exercises to improve mobility. In the early afternoon, Ang, Katelyn, and I went bouldering for a couple hours and I attempted (to the best of my ability) to control my impulse to climb without restraint. Later in the afternoon, Taylor and I biked down to the Calgary Big Book Sale for our appointment with Alexis to hunt down some excellent reads and I scored a lot of recently-released gems. For dinner, we went to Chinatown to try Delicious Country Chinese Restaurant (which was meh).
- On Sunday, after a morning bike ride to Bowmont Park/Dale Hodges Park, Taylor and I went over the Jan and James' place to celebrate Mothers' Day as a family. There was a lunch, a couple walks, great chats, and a wonderful steak and wild rice dinner! Happy Mothers' Day to all moms out there!
- For books, I finished reading Edward O. Wilsons' Tales from the Ant World, Cate Osborn and Erik Gude's The ADHD Field Guide for Adults. As for video games, I continued to play Marathon, and tried out Crimson Desert.

👣 Taylor's Footnotes
- On Tuesday, Katelyn and I went bouldering together. Sadly, we were missing Chance, who was doing the right thing, and not pushing himself to the point of injury after hurting his hand the last time we had gone. I am very grateful that he went later on the weekend to have an assessment done!
- On Thursday, Alexis and I went to see a drag show at Ship & Anchor! Twas a 10/10 time - Melody Rising was my personal fave performer.
- On Friday, Chance accompanied me for my first eczema shot. In another two weeks, I will need to learn how to self administer it with the preferred type of injectable. Going forward after learning, I will need to self administer it every two weeks. Though it will be nerve-wracking to learn, I think it will be less scary than I originally imagined it would be. I am hopeful that in a few months that I'll be reporting back with some great news! It is supposed to also help my allergies and asthma, which would feel like a miracle if it could tackle all three.
- Happy Mother's Day!!!!
