✨ Chance's Happenings

  • Taylor and I went over to Jan and James' place for Thanksgiving Monday. For much of the day, we played Clash of Cultures with James winning quite spectacularly. For dinner, we had salad, roast beef, vegetables, and an apple cake.
  • The work week was fairly standard. We did our first lockdown drill, finished reading Charlotte's Web, and had photo day. So more milestones for a new classroom teacher! Outside of the work week, I kept busy with setting up my new desktop computer, finishing a couple books, and listening to some CDs.
  • On Tuesday, Taylor and I went to vote at the nearby advanced polling station for the 2026 Referendum. Given how quick we voted after the school day, it only lasted about ten minutes. Here's hoping for a mighty victory for federalists tomorrow!
  • For Wednesday, Krystal and I went to a couple cafes to chat (including one of my favourites: Kawa Espresso Bar) and went to BestBuy to pick me up a new headset for my computer.
  • After work on Thursday, I went to Sloth Records to pick up some CDs and ended up being there for the listening party of Fountain D.C.'s new album - which I picked and I have been having in my CD player on rotation all week.
  • For Friday, Alexis and I went to Apprentice Cafe for an afterwork treat (with Alexis showing off here exceptional Tetris talent later on that night).
  • For Saturday, Taylor and I joined two of my uncles (one was visiting from Kitimat) for fish and chips at a neighbourhood pub, then visited with my aunt and their dog (ZIGGY) back at their place. On Sunday, we joined Alexis and Katelyn for bouldering and Unimarket for lunch, and had plans to join the family at Joey Tomatos for Jan's birthday dinner. In the afternoon, however, James had a bike accident whilst out with Taylor which became the priority for the evening.
  • For reading, I finished reading three books: (1) Daniel Neep’s Syria: A Modern History, (2) David Adam's The Man Who Couldn't Stop: OCD and the True Story of a Life Lost in Thought. and E.B. White's Charlotte's Web (which I read to my students over the past few weeks). As for video games, Taylor and I played Star Wars: Galactic Racer on the PlayStation 5 (thank you Avery). I also started learning how to play Endless Legend II.

👣 Taylor's Footnotes

  • I will leave my dad his privacy to share about his bike accident today while we were out together, but needless to say he walked away with more than a bruise but less than a concussion. It was a rough Sunday! 6 hours later and we are both home after a long hospital visit. Much, much love to Chance, Dan, Tina, and Hubertus for all coming to our rescue and hanging out while we waited on results.
