✨ Happenings

  • Effectively continuing throughout the entire week, I was ill with the same virus that Taylor started July with. From muffled hearing, to a sore throat, to a persistent cough; it has been really challenging lately – especially considering how my sanity often deteriorates with illness. I have been trying to practice acceptance more and letting go of fighting illness, but its hard. As for keeping distracted, I have been reading, listening to vinyl records, having lots of warm baths, sucking on lozenges, and enjoying more tea than usual.
  • For Friday and Saturday, I started feeling a bit better and was able to do some errands like upgrading my bike, grocery shopping, and visiting the bank. And despite the smoke, heat, and my throat, I even managed to squeeze a bike ride in. I also finished a blog post on instant coffee.
  • On Sunday, I felt good enough to visit with friends (whom I have missed so fucking much). We went bouldering in the morning and had lunch at Unimarket. For the rest of the day, I sat on the recliner and played Dark Souls.
  • For reading, I finished reading Anastasiia Fedorova's Second Skin: Inside the Worlds of Fetish, Kink, and Deviant Desire and started reading Richard H. Davis' Religions of Early India: A Cultural History. As for video games, I tried Old World on the PC, but mostly I have been playing Dark Souls on the PlayStation 5 (god bless Avery).

👣 Taylor's Footnotes

  • Throughout the week, I had many a late night working. Between the smoke and still struggling with a persistent cough I have found myself more tired than usual. Still much better than the last few weeks though, which is blessing heading into Pride Week.
  • Speaking of... a secret I have been holding in for a long while... Trixie Mattel is coming to Calgary for Pride on Prince's Island Park! (I am carefully wording this next to avoid a promotions email filter - it is possible to acquire tickets on the interweb - and they are flying off the shelves.)
  • On Saturday, we celebrated both Uncles Dan and Rand for their collective birthdays! We tried out the board game Root, had rhubarb and pumpkin pie, and talked. It was really, really good to finally be able to give folks hugs again at long last. <3
