Weeknotes: September 28th - October 4th 2026
Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.
✨ Chance's Happenings
- For much of the week, I spent my working hours teaching students, doing literacy/numeracy assessments, and doing prep for next week's classroom changes. Outside of work, we joined Alexis at the Pokaiks ‘The Children’ Commemorative Walk & Gathering (got lunch together after), we had Dan over for supper on Thursday, and I went for a bike ride to Bowmont Park with a new coworker on Friday.
- On Saturday, Taylor and I spent the day at home. I mostly read David Adam's The Man Who Couldn't Stop: OCD and the True Story of a Life Lost in Thought all day and played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on the Playstation 5. It was fairly sedentary, though that's needed sometimes.
- For Sunday, Taylor and I went bouldering with Katelyn, Ang, and Alexis. For lunch, we went to Unimarket (though I got something different from empanadas). For a few hours in the afternoon, we went biking around with James. It was a splendid ride amongst the autumn leaves, though I did take a tumble off my fixie a couple blocks from home.
- For reading, I continued reading Daniel Neep’s Syria: A Modern History and began reading David Adam's The Man Who Couldn't Stop: OCD and the True Story of a Life Lost in Thought. As for video games, I continued playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and I've been finally getting into some of the "Cost of Hope" expansion content.

👣 Taylor's Footnotes
- I have not made a craft this week - but by the end of the next week I expect to have many a craft to show! My crafting prowess is not yet fully back, so I shalt continue to use the helpful excuse of having other people around in order to hold space for making.
- On Friday, Alexis and I joined a dance class that my wonderful friend and co-worker/co-conspirator Vicki teaches with Fierce and Curvy Empire. I have not learned choreography in a real class format since I was in dance (and quit!) back in early elementary school (forgive my bad memory). Dance back then was mostly scary and bad when we were performing, and fun when I misinterpreted it as mostly just doing whatever I wanted. As such, I went into the class believing I was inherently bad at learning choreography - but having wonderful teachers made this in fact not the case! 10/10 would recommend folks join - they have drop in classes right now and it was SO MUCH fun!! I am grateful to Alexis for hopping into this with me too. :)
- For next week - I will do my best to comb through my family photos to find an absolutely ridiculous looking photo of me from my childhood dance class taken before??? a competition???
- For reasons really close to my family, this has been a hard time. Chance and I have been sharing with those closest to us, but it's not something for online. But all to say, this week has been complicated, and heavy in ways I have not experienced before. Glad to chat about it in-person though - and enormous thanks to those around us supporting us through this.
- Looking forward to a fun and busy October - and fish rescue next week!
