Weeknotes: October 26th - November 1st 2026

Disclaimer: It should be mentioned that Weeknotes are always a snapshot of the week itself and lack the fullness of life - as is the case with any personal blogging.

✨ Chance's Happenings

  • With my attendance at a new teacher's orientation (in the evening with a meh dinner), the completion of a first aid course, and the hustle to complete EAL benchmarking, the work week felt longer than usual. For much of the week, I felt like I couldn't keep up with anything and felt a bit aimless. I listened to music and played video games, but much of the week was uneventful.
  • The weekend was much better though. On Halloween proper, I got errands done around the neighbourhood and played Crimson Desert. In the evening, Taylor and I went to Katelyn and Ang's place for Halloween festivities with them hosting a game of Traitors. Taylor and I decided on our first couple's costume. After watching this ridiculous parody music video, I decided to be Celine Dion in It's All Coming Back to Me Now and Taylor decided to be Bonnie Tyler in Total Eclipse of the Heart - just two pop stars racing barefoot through candlelit halls. I was voted as the winner of the costume contest, proving that I'm alive and that my heart will go on. To conclude, the Halloween party was undoubtably the highlight of the week and we appreciate all the work that went into it! For Sunday, after getting breakfast at Galaxie Dinner with Taylor, I went bouldering and got lunch at Unimarket with Katelyn and Alexis. For the rest of the day, I stayed at home playing Crimson Desert.
  • For reading, I started reading Cory Doctorow's The Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life After AI. As for video games, I started playing Crimson Desert and I have already fallen in love with it. It is ludicrous to have a game this massive, but I am here for it!

👣 Taylor's Footnotes

  • This week was wonderful! After seeing friends last week, it was great being able to hang out with Alexis multiple times! Throughout the week we spent time together painting at Colour Me Mine and went bouldering! I also visited my parents and Nana again, where we played some cards and enjoyed each other's company. I helped out a little bit around the house as well. PS: If anyone knows of anyone looking for a used SUV, please let Chance and I know! My parents are trying to sell theirs - any leads that we can pass along would be helpful!
  • I also finished playing Blood of the Dawnwalker this week. I would 10/10 strongly recommend it to anyone who likes unique RPGs, vampires, historic settings with a twist, or any combination of those. It has some really cool base mechanics alongside surprising plot points, which were much more nuanced and emotionally charged than I was expecting. The limited opportunities available to complete the game's main objective within the 30 day in-game timer drives the narrative along by adding meaningful weight to the player's choices.
  • Tomorrow starts my last true week off from work before returning to a degree of uncertainty. That being said, I feel clearer mentally and physically than I have in a long while. Having choice on how to spend my time has been incredibly freeing.
  • It's getting late as I write this so I won't include much more, but here are a few photos from the week!
